Read suspense stories at your own pace
We all live in a moment of “FOMO” (fear of missing out). This is the most dreadful things happening, especially in the time of pandemic. People missed their vacations, pending work, lost their job, etc. For those who were lucky, they could still catch up with little things and stayed calm. For them it was the fact that they are grateful to be alive, can cook, can buy crime thriller books, they can talk to their friends and family virtually, etc. People fear that they this time of the year has been wasted, all their plans put on hold.
People who have FOMO, they want to be everywhere at
the same time. They do not want to miss on the precious moments of fun, the
good times. They have a hard time digesting the fact that they missed out a get
together, didn’t watch a movie/series that others have, a flash mob that their
friends saw but they couldn’t, virtual group video call, etc.
Make your own plans that you love
You don’t always have to compete, even if you don’t
like doing that stuff. For example- If your love is books, buy romantic or buy thriller novels, and be content in
that. It doesn’t matter if you watched that you missed a group call or a
meeting in a cool café, as long as you buy thriller books to read and get absorbed in it. That is a time well-spent.
You invested in something you actually love rather than conforming to the
society. Read the novel at your own pace without having the stress of wanting
to be at another place. If the anxiety is really strong, then of course, you
need to keep the suspense thriller books
aside and go.
How to tackle FOMO?
The anxious and sometimes all-consuming emotion that
you’re missing out – that your peers are doing, in the know about, or in
control of more or something better than you’’. Under this framing of FOMO, nearly
three quarters of young adults reported they experienced the event. It is an
unsettling feeling for sure.
